The Qualifications for Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician are: the ability to perform the duties/responsibilities of the job with or without accommodation; the ability to read, write, and speak English; the ability to accurately use and read a variety of measuring devices; well-rounded electrical, mechanical, and machine shop skills and experience; the ability to learn; and the ability to follow instructions, ask questions, and work effectively as a member of a team. Preferred candidates must be a Class A Maintenance Mechanic and possess a journeyman’s certificate and/or associates degree. The maintenance supervisor evaluates mechanic class A qualifications.

Primary Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician duties/responsibilities include:

  • read and interpret schematics

  • use schematics to trouble-shoot and isolate electrical issues

  • read drive parameters and interpret drive fault codes

  • install new drives and enter parameters

  • troubleshoot and wire up 3phase multi-lead / multi-voltage motors

  • interpret parameters to set-up a newer or updated drive

  • look up and Cross reference components when exact numbers aren’t available.

  • advanced PLC programming and trouble-shooting

  • Get connected

  • Read processor errors

  • Download and upload to and from processor

  • Load from EPROM and save to EPROM

  • Read the rack and chassis configuration

  • Read ladder logic

  • follow all safety rules and practices

  • perform preventive maintenance activities such as lubricate, measure wear, measure positions reposition components, and observe operations, vibrations, and noise levels

  • perform emergency/break down maintenance as necessary to support plant operations

  • reference equipment manuals and other technical literature

  • contact and work with vendors and subcontractors to achieve desired results

  • accurately use measurement and test equipment

  • perform electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, steam system, and other repairs and installations as needed

  • safely operate the boiler, and maintain adequate operating steam pressure (> 180 PSI)

  • maintain clean and organized work areas, and cleanup work areas as part of completing assigned tasks

  • accurately and completely prepare and maintain maintenance records and other paperwork

  • trouble-shoot and solve problems

  • maintain teamwork with other associates

  • keep supervision informed of problems and/or unusual situations

  • perform other duties as assigned by supervision

  • understand the importance of producing food-safe packaging products and commit to contributing and maintaining the facility as a food-safe processing environment; this commitment includes operational methods and personnel practices, maintenance practices, and cleaning practices involved in the everyday production of food contact products.
