PURPOSE:

The Packaging Systems Application Business Analyst I will assist in the design, development and delivery of ERP technology solutions for the Packaging business. They will serve as the SME in complex business applications/systems/specific technology.

This position will interact with end users, BIMs, PIMs, ITSS and enterprise wide technical resources. The BA I needs a moderate degree of technical knowledge and should be capable of supporting ERP tools and modules in a complex environment. The ABA I must be versed in the “language” of the business and understand how information flows through business processes, its inter-relationships, and how it should be organized and stored for effective user consumption. The ABA I should have Business process redesign and integration skills. Experience and knowledge of ERP applications and supporting technologies as well as the ability to work among a team of professionals taking tasks to successful completion.

Key Customers: This position has influence on delivering and sustaining strategic, project solutions and information-enabled systems, which are essential to the Packaging business. The ideal candidate is a technical liaison for Packaging Systems to end users, BIMs, PIMs, ITSS and enterprise wide technical resources for strategic applications.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Perform tasks in support of highly complex design, implementation and support ERP technical solutions for Packaging Systems processes. Familiar with all phases of systems analysis while considering business implications of the applied technologies to current and future business environments. Proficient at analyzing technical solutions to meet business expectations while adhering to IP enterprise standards and optimal ERP technology performance and reliability.

  • Provides technical expertise to enterprise efforts that affect Packaging Systems application technology, such as Archiving, Business Continuity, etc.

  • Develop to become a SME in business applications / systems / specific technology and can clearly articulate the business value of technology. Maintains awareness of best practices employed by other companies using similar technologies and modules. Participates in knowledge transition sessions.

  • Utilizes the Project and Delivery Process (PDP). Translates business’s high-level requirements into functional specifications, work estimates and project schedules for IT developers/ third party vendors to meet defined and implement business requirements.

  • Participates and performs tasks in support of the overall process improvement of the functional area, business process redesign and documentation related to technology enhancements.

  • Develops into a functional expert within the company and a source of information for others on supported Packaging Systems applications (i.e. custom apps & 3rd party vendor). Provides world class Tier 2 support for Packaging Systems applications as needed. Manages vendor performance against SLAs.

  • Technology in the (packaging industry) ERP area is changing at a rapid space. Development approaches and alternatives associated with (retail, Ink Packaging Systems applications for example, evolve with each new release

  • Packaging Systems has developed beyond a simple support and development organization, into a multi-functional information hub for all things technical around the Packaging business

  • Keeping current on business analyst practices, project management techniques as well as other IT tools utilized to deliver products and services

  • Technology in the packaging industry is changing at a rapid pace. Support processes, procedures and alternatives associated with Ink & Plate, Preprint & Retail, evolves with each new release.

  • Increasing complexity is impacting the scope of work performed by this position

  • The BA I must create, implement and sustain IT solutions that can adapt to changing business requirements while remaining technologically viable (reliable, sustainable, high performance).

  • The expansion of the Packaging business throughout our global operations will provide significant technology challenges (networking latency, language, application and country specific configuration, etc.) that the BA I must consider

SCOPE:

The Packaging Systems Application Business Analyst I will assist with production support, multiple projects and discretionary work efforts in an environment of ever-shifting mix of priorities. The ideal candidate must focus on the highest priority tasks and complete them as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

The successful candidate will have the capability to operate with a strategic enterprise view and will have the ability to productively work within a group of professionals. The ability to take tasks to a successful completion is also key to success. The candidate should also have an understanding of IP products, culture, vision and a functional knowledge of operational IT processes.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent degree. CBAP (Certified Business Analyst Professional) or PMP (Project Management Professional) a plus.

  • Requires 5+ years’ experience in Information Technology
