International Paper is looking for a MPS Service Technician to be based in the Valdosta, GA area. The MPS Service Technician repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as motors, pneumatic controls, conveyor systems, and field packaging machines and equipment by performing the following duties.


  • Must be able to work safely and housekeeping standards must be maintained.

  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.

  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.

  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.

  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.

  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.

  • Repairs or replaces defective parts. Installs special functional and structural parts in devices. Lubricates and cleans parts.

  • Starts devices to test their performance.

  • Sets up and operates drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.

  • Must have understanding of electrical blueprints, PLC and troubleshooting of electrical components

  • Initiates parts requests for machines.

  • Has minimal customer contact at field locations, must be able to communicate and coordinate machine needs

  • Requires minimal contact with sales people

  • Must be available to work various shifts and weekends; including travel to customer locations

  • Must have valid state driver’s license with good driving record


Five or more years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment with proven skills in the areas of electrical, PLC, and computer-controlled equipment. Corrugated industry experience preferred. Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance methods. Strong mechanical knowledge of manufacturing processes. Ability to identify root cause of problems and effectively initiate immediate corrective action to prevent reoccurrence. Working knowledge and ability to utilize personal computers and software.
