Pipe Fitter Journeyman I

International Paper, a major paper producer, is proactively committed to maintaining a leadership role in our industry. Our Red River mill in Campti, LA has a need for a qualified Mechanical Journeyman I.

EDUCATION REQUIRED

  • Minimum high school graduate or GED equivalent

  • NCEER certification preferred

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • 5 years of pipe fitting experience

Qualifications Required

  • Ability to work in team environment

  • Ability to work shifts

  • Cut, prep and prepare pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders and benders.

  • Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment, according to specifications, by welding and threading joints.

  • Attach pipes to walls, structures and tanks, using brackets, clamps, tools or welding equipment.

  • Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipe lines, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods.

  • Measure and mark pipes for cutting and installation

  • Lay out full scale drawings of pipe systems, supports, and related equipment, following blueprints.

  • Plan pipe system layout, installation, or repair according to specifications where isometric drawings are not available. Point “A” to “B” and so forth.

  • Select pipe sizes and types and related materials, such as supports, hangers according to specifications.

  • Rig, hoist/lift & move materials.

  • Required to adhere to all safety rules and regulations

  • Be able to identify the following: Valves (type, size, rating), Flanges (type, size, rating), Gaskets (type, size)

  • Have the ability to make a field drawing and execute the job from that.

  • Proper flange breaking techniques

  • Using a torque wrench to get the proper torque on the connections

  • Bend and install tubing

  • Calculate piping offsets
