A professional that under supervision performs laboratory testing related to environmental compliance, process monitoring, quality assurance, etc. Supports and maintains the various laboratories throughout the mill. Maintains and manages test equipment throughout the mill. Performs vessel entry atmospheric testing. Handles hazardous materials shipments and mill Radiation Safety related needs. Reports directly to the Quality Manager.

Position Requirements

  • Performs routine environmental compliance testing

  • Prepares and submits environmental compliance reports

  • Performs routine process testing

  • Collects samples and submits them for off-site testing and reports results

  • Prepares laboratory chemicals for all of the labs throughout the mill

  • Inventories lab supplies and orders them as needed

  • Performs quality assurance crosschecks of paper test lab equipment

  • Troubleshoots problems with testing equipment and arranges for repairs when needed

  • Performs atmospheric testing of confined spaces and for hot work

  • Maintains all mill atmospheric testing equipment

  • Mill resource for proper packaging and shipping of hazardous materials

Qualifications

  • 5+ years industrial manufacturing environment experience with environmental & safety knowledge required.

  • 2-5 years’ experience in a laboratory environment is preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science related field is preferred

  • Good computer skills are required

  • Attention to detail is a must

  • Physically fit enough to climb stairs and ladders on a regular basis is a required.
