Mill Financial Analyst

Description: Business Environment

The selected candidate will be assigned to the Finance Staff Group at the Valliant Mill. Job responsibilities will include interacting with mill operations personnel on a day-to-day basis, as well as performing some more routine financial assignments. These assignments can include measuring progress against meeting various objectives, analyzing business results, developing an annual budget and preparing short-term forecasts.

Primary Responsibilities Actively participate as a member of a business unit Review/analyze key performance measures and variances Develop the annual budget and assure that product cost information is accurate. Monthly reporting and communication of financial performance against objectives.

Ensure accurate and timely financial and operating statistical information for the identification of potential business problems and opportunities

Ensure compliance of efficient internal controls on all transactions of company assets and interests, including legal, state and local taxes and insurance claims. Ensure that the facility maintains accurate books and records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and that the business is conducted in compliance with established corporate, sector and division policies, procedures and practices.

Minimum Requirements Education – bachelor’s degree in finance, economics or business administration.
Excellent oral and written communications skills and the ability to work effectively with others.

Two (2) years of experience Geographic flexibility Comfortable using spreadsheet programs (Microsoft Excel) and other databases

Job Competencies (Skills/characteristics associated with and developed in the position) Technical/Functional Business, industry exposure. Manufacturing process knowledge. Familiarity with company policies and procedures and various financial systems. Financial analyses: cost/variance, profitability, key performance measures, operating data, new product development Forecasting and budget development. Month and year-end close process.
